Replace Some Light Bulbs, Save Energy.
Compact fluorescent light bulbs are more efficient
and have a longer life than the conventional incandescent light bulbs. When
you compare lifetime costs of the bulbs and the energy they use, ordinary
bulbs are not a bargain.
If you take one 60-watt incandescent (ordinary)
light bulb out of a fixture that you use a lot, and replace it with a
15-watt compact fluorescent (CF), the CF will last 6-10 times as long, give
the same amount of light, and use only 1/3 the amount of energy.
Compact fluorescents do cost more initially than
ordinary light bulbs. You will save that extra cost and more over the
lifetime of the bulb through the energy it saves. Consider trying one in a
covered outdoor fixture, or in a fixture over the kitchen sink or one in the
living room, especially any bulb that you leave on for hours at a time. Then
reap the energy savings!
